I’ve never been much of a gambler.
I’d rather not win than lose.
I think it’s why I’ve never spread my wings
as far as I could have,
why I never left,
why I never impulsively kissed that boy,
why I never dared to starve,
why I never got on that plane,
started all over in a gray city
where no one knew me.
I know it’s all rigged.
I’m not meant to win.
I’ll be happy
just breaking even.
